The Great Out-tours
The Great Out-tours offer children of all ages and abilities that most precious of gifts, the great outdoors.
The website has some unique function and features that were important to the operational ability of the company. Based on a farm in near Heathfield East Sussex they wanted their website to highlight the different services they provide and the setting in which they take place, namely their small holding “Woodside”
We have hosted and maintained their website since 2010 and have just completed a major upgrade of the site. As business has developed their website has formed an increasingly important role in the how they generate new work and fulfil their current workload. With this in mind we have migrated their website from Joomla to WordPress and heavily incorporated their social media account into the site.
Social media performs important functions for the great out tours. For them it not just about creating content for the public to read. As part of the service they provide they take pictures of the days activities and share them with the participants. This presented a challenge for us. Sure its easy to to achieve, put up a gallery and send out the link. But this is where we go further than you would expect. Having to collect images after each club or party, download them and then upload them to a gallery was proving to time consuming for the great out tours so we came up with a seamless system that integrates all of their social media and blog in one very fast and easy process.
We have set it up so that whenever any of the instructors running an event #tag a photo with the relevant #tag on intagram several things happen.
Our system automatically post the image and message to their facebook and twitter pages. Depending on the #tag used it will go into one of several galleries. The system will also add the image to the relevant gallery on their website, again the specific gallery is picked with the correct #tag.
Sometimes people don’t appreciate how a website can change the way they do business, or the amount of time that they can say you through automation and a bit of lateral thinking and coding.
